CCTV Drain Inspections North Shore

See what's actually in the pipe.

Most drain problems get diagnosed by guesswork: something’s blocked, it gets cleared, everyone hopes that was it. A camera replaces the guessing with a picture.

When a CCTV drain inspection earns its place

Voyager runs CCTV drain inspections across the North Shore, and you see the footage — not a summary of it.

  • The same drain keeps blocking. The single best reason. Repeat blockages almost always mean a structural fault, and clearing keeps treating the symptom
  • Before you commit to a repair. Nobody should be quoting excavation or relining on a hunch
  • Buying a property. A pre-purchase drain inspection is cheap relative to inheriting a collapsed sewer line — particularly on the older North Shore housing stock with mature trees
  • After a blockage has been cleared, to check whether the pipe that allowed it is sound
  • Tree roots suspected — the camera shows where they’re entering
  • Locating a line before excavation, landscaping or a build
  • Strata disputes, where the question is which line is affected and whether it’s common property
  • Unexplained damp, subsidence or a sinkhole in the garden

What the drain camera shows

  • Cracks, fractures and collapsed sections
  • Root intrusion, and the exact joint or crack letting them in
  • Sags and bellies where water and waste sit instead of flowing
  • Misaligned or displaced joints
  • Grease and scale build-up
  • Foreign objects
  • Pipe material and condition — useful for knowing what you’re dealing with in an older property
  • The depth and route of the line

How a CCTV drain inspection works

  1. Access. The camera goes in through an existing access point…

Access. The camera goes in through an existing access point wherever possible

  2. The run is recorded along the length of the line
  3. You watch it. The plumber talks through what’s on screen as it…

You watch it. The plumber talks through what’s on screen as it goes, rather than delivering a verdict afterwards

  4. Location and depth are marked where a fault is found

    So any repair is targeted

  5. You get the findings

And if repair is needed, a fixed price for it, with no obligation to proceed on the spot

CCTV drain inspections

Pre-purchase drain inspections

Building and pest inspections generally don’t cover the drainage below ground. On an older North Shore property with established trees, that’s exactly where an expensive surprise tends to be waiting — a collapsed clay sewer line is a five-figure problem that gives no warning from inside the house.

An inspection before you exchange is a reasonable piece of due diligence, and the report is something you can act on either way.

Frequently asked questions

Do I get a copy of the footage?

Yes — ask and it’s provided. It’s useful for insurance, for strata, for a sale, and for comparing against a future inspection.

Do I need an inspection for a one-off blockage?

Usually not. If a drain has blocked once and cleared cleanly, that’s often the whole story. The camera earns its keep when the blockage returns, when several fixtures are affected, or when something expensive is about to be quoted.

Can the camera find where the pipe runs?

Yes. The camera head can be traced from the surface, so the route and depth can be marked — which matters before landscaping, excavation or a build.

How much does it cost?

Priced by the job with a fixed price up front. Where an inspection is part of diagnosing a blockage Voyager is already clearing, it’s usually more economical than booking it separately.

Can you inspect stormwater as well as sewer?

Yes — both, and they’re different systems with different failure patterns. See stormwater drains.

The drain has to be clear first?

Generally, yes — a camera can’t see through a solid blockage. Clearing and inspection are often done in the same visit for that reason.
